INEC declares APC’s Bola Tinubu winner of Nigeria’s presidential election
Mr Tinubu won in Rivers, Borno, Jigawa, Zamfara, Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo and Ogun states.
The ruling party of Nigeria, APC, candidate Bola Tinubu, has been proclaimed the victor of Saturday's presidential election by the electoral body, INEC.
In the election, Mr. Tinubu defeated 17 other contenders. Being the candidate with the highest total of votes (8,794,726), he satisfied the first constitutional condition to be proclaimed the victor.
Moreover, he received more than 25% of the votes cast in 30 states, which is more than the legally required 24 states.
Atiku Abubakar of the PDP finished in a tie for second place in the election, according to INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, who made the announcement of the final results early on Wednesday in Abuja.
In the election, Atiku received 6,984,520 votes overall.
With a total of 6,101,533 votes, Peter Obi of the Labour Party came in third, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP came in fourth with 1,496,687 votes.
At the National Collation Center on Wednesday by 3 p.m., a Certificate of Return for the President and Vice President would be given, according to Mr. Yakubu.

The majority of states need not be won, nevertheless, in order for a candidate to be named the victor.
State won
The states of Rivers, Borno, Jigawa, Zamfara, Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, and Ogun all went for Mr. Tinubu in the election.
Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Kaduna, Gombe, Yobe, Bauchi, Adamawa, and Taraba states went for Atiku, and he won. He also won in Osun, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa states.
Mr. Obi won in the states of Enugu, Edo, Cross River, Delta, Lagos, Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Imo, Ebonyi, Nasarawa, and Anambra.
Just Kano State was won by Mr. Kwankwaso.
